Cummins Diesel Engine 12/03/2008 At the ConExpo 2008 in Las Vegas, Cummins Inc. announced that the Heavy-Duty QSX engine will be available with a fully integrated air intake to exhaust aftertreatment system. This new air intake and exhaust aftertreatment system will be able to meet US EPA Tier 4 Interim and European Stage IIIB off-highway emissions regulations to be upheld in January 2011. Cummins diesel engines will also be meeting the off-highway emissions regulations. The Tier 4 QSX increases displacement to 16 litres and incorporates the XPI High Pressure Common Rail fuel system which enhances the power output and the engine response. Cummins diesel engines will be able to achieve very low emission levels with the Cummins Particulate Filter exhaust aftertreatment which reduces Particulate Matter (PM) emissions by an impressive 90 percent and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation that reduces Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) by as much as 45 percent. The latest innovation in emissions reduction the Tier 4 technology boosts of a significant increase in QSX power output with a top rating of a 650 hp which beats the current 600 hp for the Tier 3 QSX system for Cummins diesel engine. This will also cover the 400 hp and a broad range of heavy-duty applications. Cummins diesel engine manufacturer, Vice President of Cummins Off-Highway Business, Ric Kleine said, The next generation Tier 4 QSX goes beyond meeting very low emission levels to also offer higher levels of heavy-duty productivity than the Tier 3 QSX. Kleine said, The QSX will continue to be the heavy-duty engine of choice for high-power equipment with very demanding duty cycles." |
